Change takes sacrifice.

Change Takes Sacrifice

Life is full of seasons and in every season we grow into a different version of ourselves, we face new experiences and meet new people that bring out a different side of us that we never knew. The new seasons we enter require new approaches from our acquired knowledge and past experiences. Often when in pursuit of big goals and dreams we have to set new habits and do completely different things in order to achieve completely new outcomes.

The process of establishing new habits and cutting off old habits brings serious change. The change we experience can begin to alienate us from our peers and our old social groups, sometimes even from our family and friends. However, this change is necessary to change in order to for us to become the new version that's required to accomplish new goals and reach the next level.

Change is a necessary process for growth and progress. High achievers know that the path to success is paved with challenges and sacrifices. Whether it's changing a habit, a job, or a way of thinking, it always requires some level of sacrifice.

Sacrifice is not easy, but it is essential. It requires giving up your comfort zone, facing your fears, or putting in extra effort to learn new skills. Sometimes it may even require letting go of people or things that no longer serve your best interest. But the reward is often worth it. Sacrificing short-term comfort for long-term benefits is a crucial aspect of personal development.

Do not be afraid of missing out.

When you are making sacrifices to achieve your dreams, goals, milestones or even to change yourself as a person. There will be many distractions along the way , many of the distractions may be very tempting to partake in and this will only lead you back where you started.

The key to sustaining your change is to surround yourself with people and an environment that is driven towards your new goals and vision. This will allow you to remain positive, to gain a network that is into similar things as you. It will push you to grow further and continue to support your discipline. It is way easier to work hard if you surround yourself with hard workers. It is easy to stay fit and in shape if you surround yourself with regular gym goers and you all like to eat healthy. The same applies with bad habits.

Delayed gratification

Sacrificing short-term comfort for long-term benefits, has numerous benefits over short-term satisfaction.

Firstly, delayed gratification allows us to focus on our long-term goals and aspirations, rather than getting sidetracked by immediate pleasures. It helps us develop discipline and self-control, which are essential for achieving success in any area of life.

Second, delayed gratification can lead to greater happiness and fulfillment in the long run. When we work hard and make sacrifices to achieve our goals, we feel a sense of accomplishment and pride that cannot be achieved through short-term pleasures.

Finally, delayed gratification can help us build resilience and mental toughness. When we face setbacks or obstacles, our ability to delay gratification allows us to stay focused on our goals and keep pushing forward, even when things get tough.

In short, delayed gratification is a key component of personal development and success. By sacrificing short-term satisfaction for long-term benefits, we can achieve our goals, build resilience, and live a more fulfilling life.

Here are words of encouragement from five great athletes who have all made sacrifices to achieve their dreams:

  1. Michael Jordan "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."

  2. Serena Williams "You have to believe in yourself when no one else does - that makes you a winner right there."

  3. Kobe Bryant "We all have self-doubt. You don't deny it, but you also don't capitulate to it. You embrace it."

  4. Muhammad Ali "I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'"

  5. Usain Bolt "Don't think about the start of the race, think about the ending."

These athletes all faced challenges and obstacles in their careers, but they never gave up. They embraced change and made sacrifices to achieve their dreams. So, high achievers, let us follow their lead and remember that change takes sacrifice, but it is worth it. Keep pushing forward, and never give up on your dreams.
